Voyager Of The Seas

If your idea of a fun vacation is a floating hotel filled with a variety of things to do, entertainment to view, and food to savor, the mammoth Voyager of the Seas is for you.

Voyager of the Seas, one of the largest ships afloat, launched in 1999. Thanks to her size — longer than a football field, spread across fourteen decks, filled with 1,557 cabins — Voyager of the Seas can accommodate more people and more activities than smaller ships.

The Voyager of the Seas’ eleven-story atrium overlooks the ship’s Grand Promenade, which is filled with shops and cafes. On embarkation night, a Mardi Gras-like parade fills the promenade, which passengers can participate in… or watch from the decks above the atrium.

Voyager of the Seas is like a small town, only afloat. It carries over 3800 passengers and almost 1200 crew, and it weighs three times as much as the Titanic, and twice as much as the Norway. The cruise ships used to sail the Caribbean in winter and then reposition themselves through the Canal to Asia or the Pacific Northwest in the off-season summertime. However, with the deserved popularity of cruising, demand for ships such as the Voyager of the Seas in the Caribbean is year round.

Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas also calls Galveston home. Voyager of the Seas also offers the only ice-skating rink at sea. In addition, you’ll find an art auction, golf simulator, scuba instruction, sauna, spa and rock-climbing wall, and a fitness center.

However, Voyager of the Seas sails on a 7-day journey to Cozumel, Roatan, Costa Maya, and Yucatan before returning to Galveston. If you want to extend your journey, choose the 13-night transatlantic eastbound cruise, which leaves Galveston for a stop in Miami before sailing across the Atlantic to arrive in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores Islands. A shore stop is scheduled in Ponta Delgada, and then the ship leaves for Cartagena, Columbia and then on to Barcelona, Spain, where your cruise terminates.

Cruising out of Voyager of the Seas offers some options and ships that are not found in other destinations. Especially for a seasoned cruiser, this is a way to try a little something different while still enjoying your favorite type of vacation.
