Celebrity Galaxy
It’s official. After Celebrity Galaxy’s last cruise on March 2, 2009, the 11-year-old ship will transfer over to TUI Cruises, a new German-based cruise line that’s a joint venture between Royal Caribbean, Celebrity’s parent, and European mega-operator TUI AG. The ship will be renamed Mein Schiff, which means “my ship” in German.
Galaxy, the second in a series of three vessels, debuted in December 1996. Century was first in the series in 1995 and Mercury followed in 1997. Celebrity positions itself as a premium level cruise line, meaning that their target guest is looking for a cruise experience that includes some of the amenities and refinements of the luxury lines without losing the element of fun.
Celebrity Cruises continues its tradition aboard the new Celebrity Galaxy with “The Essence of Galaxy,” a collection of nearly 500 original works. The art collection on Celebrity cruises features a selection of works from the lauded collection that graced Celebrity Galaxy prior to the ship’s transition to the TUI Cruises fleet earlier this year.
Celebrity Galaxy offers comfortably sophisticated, upscale vacation experiences with highly personalized service, exceptional dining, and extraordinary attention to detail. Celebrity sails in Alaska, California, Canada/New England, the Caribbean, Europe, Galapagos Islands, Hawaii, the Pacific Coast, Panama Canal and South America. The line also offers unique cruisetour vacations in Alaska, Canada, Europe and South America.
Celebrity Galaxy also has a good reputation for their cuisine. The meals exceeded our expectations. Not only was it good, it was downright outstanding on many nights. There was good variety. No one at our table ever needed to send back an undercooked or overcooked item. All of the vegetables were excellent
In “Still Life for Leisure,” the second commissioned installation, Los Angeles-based Jose Pardo, known for emphasizing social interaction as art, transforms Celebrity Galaxy Ensemble Lounge vestibule into a site for relaxation, with a minimal cushioned bench and other furnishings set amidst a blend of color and light.
The cruise provides you with all the amenities you could ever wish from, from shipboard accommodations to ocean transportation, meals, beverages, and entertainment aboard the vessel. So what are you waiting for then?? Whatever your concept of fun is they offer it. Believe them when they say Celebrity Galaxy is the good one.
