Service on the Westerdam
The Princess ships had pretty good service until we cruised on Holland America. The staff, from the front desk to the cabin steward was incredible. Holland America adds $10. a day to your ship account for tips that is divided amongst the crew. There was almost no mention of additional tipping by anyone on the ship, but we opted to give additional monies to our room steward and the dining room staff. These additional amounts could also have been added to our ships account, with specific amounts for the individual staff.
Dining Room Food and Service on the Westerdam
There were actually four times to dine in the Vista dining room, as the early seating dinner opened at 5:45pm for the upper level and 6:15pm for the lower level. The main seating dinner was 8:00pm for the upper level and 8:30pm for the lower level. This restaurant was very clean with a comfortable feel, lots of help was available to help with trays, as well as refilling drinks, etc.
Cabins on the Westerdam
- a queen-size bed with two night stands with additional storage
- a vanity area with six small drawers, a stool to sit on, as well as a make-up mirror and hair dryer.
- another dresser area had three roomier drawers, a TV on top and a built-in refrigerator.
- a full size sofa that could convert to a bed, as well as a coffee table and two arm chairs.
- three closets. Two that converted from hanging full length items with a shelf above and below, or with a few simple clicks, convert to all shelves. The third closet held the room safe, another short hanging area and several more shelves to store items.
Entertainment on the Westerdam
- The Internet lounge was large, with quite a few computers available. there was always one available.
- The shop on the ship was laid out a bit strangely, sort of all ran together and a bit crowded. There were some clothing choices, souvenirs, jewelry, liquor, perfumes and sundries, etc.
- New and current movies are shown three times a day in the Queen’s Lounge, Casino Royale and the Queen were several of the daily offerings.
